Embellishment is where detail is added to a garment to make it look different and unique. For example this could be adding sequins or other pieces of fabric or even adding buttons or beads.

What is fabric manipulation?
Fabric manipulation is where you can change the texture or style of a piece or pieces of fabric to create a unique garment/s.

Types of fabric manipulation:
- Smocking
A method of controlling fullness by the use of gathers secured with rows of hand embroidery stitches
- Pleating
A method of folding material to control fullness
- Gathering
Threads are stitched through fabric and drawn together to reduce the fullness of a material to a required width
- Quilting
The stitching of layers of material together usually with the use of padding to raise the surface of the material
